A device known as black box for car which would record the location, movement and speed of the car a few seconds prior to accidents occur will be helpful for lowering the number of accidents and reduce number of deaths and injuries when it arrives in the market very shortly. The device that is in the stage of production, is a venture planned by three students, Ahmed Mohammed Amer from Palestine, Abdulwahhab Alqurssi an Emirati and Mohammed Hasan from Bangladesh. Presently they are attached with the University of Sharjah as senior students of Electrical Engineering.

Elaborating about this black box for car, Yousuf told that the incidents of accidents are growing every year and police know about the location of the accident after a lapse of considerable period of time which causes numbers of deaths increasing from road accidents. This project will control the movement of the vehicle just sixty seconds or one minute prior to the accident occurs. It records the movement, location and speed and other things regarding the accident. Prior to happening of the accident, it alerts the driver in case the person concerned exceeds his speed limit. Besides, if the accident happens, it sends a SMS message immediately to the police and other competent authorities so that rescue operations can be started without any delay.

The utilization of blackbox car is not a new concept. This has been in cars actually more exceeding than twenty years as a means for car makers to get information regarding the driver and movement of the car just before an accident occurs.

While blackbox car is not mandatory at present, a federal standard is there in respect of the information which can be gathered. Presently, the recorders of event-data maintain track of fifteen separate variables including overall speed of the car and speed of the engine. The other data recorded are inputs of the driver like whether the brakes were applied, if a seatbelt was in place and up to what distance the accelerator pedal was used. The standards need that the gadget collect information about initial impact and permit download of data utilizing equipment available commercially. Irrespective of the information being gathered, the data is characteristically considered to fit in to the owner of the car and usually, the car owner requires offering permission for its utilization or there requires a warrant being released for the information and data. 

The insurance companies are introducing many features in their insurance policy products. These facilities are beneficial to the insurance policy holder at the time of required situations. The car owners cover their costly cars with the insurance agencies according to the value of the vehicles. The premium amount differs according to the insurance policies. Now the insurance companies have introduced a unique product in the compact size equivalent to the mobile phone size. This product is installed inside the car and works on the battery energy. The equipment has been designed to calculate the speed of the car, mileage, distance between the starting point and to the ending point, consumption of the fuel within the covered distance etc., by its inbuilt technical devices. The car owners have the option of selecting their desired insurance coverage by selecting the blackbox for car to get benefits. They need not pay higher amount of premium by possessing the valued car. They can pay the premium amount as to the selection of the insurance policy they get through installing the product. This product has the feature of the global position system within its device. Hence the persons can locate the car easily wherever it is stranded or detained.    


There are lots of difference between the blackbox car and other car. The black box car is unique in its features and gives the advantages to the vehicle owner. This black box car is considered as a valued possession as the car owner has many benefits   in his usage. The vehicle owner can assess the road condition by fixing the black box in his car. This black box is the storage and assessing device that reduces the working strain of the insurance companies in calculating the amount of the insurance policy holders. In addition the black box car owner can calculate the amount of premium by getting the automatic calculation for paying the exact amount and thereby not wasting excess of money towards premium amount.

The black box product does not decrease the quality of car in any aspects by fitting it in the car. If any accident occurs the automatic inbuilt device fitted in the black box started to work about the ultimate impact of the accident, the direction of the blackbox car and the opposite vehicle that involved in the accident. This gives an idea of the total accident to the person attends the accident issues. This feature does not exist so far in any vehicle insurance agencies.
